
The founder of this school is Master Kanbun Uechi (May 1877 to June 1948). This school is the newest in Okinawa’s four main streams of school. Uechi school is based on “pangainukenpo” which is where founder Kanbun Uechi was taught in Fukkenshu China.

The school blossomed and martial arts developed in Okinawa and became a traditional martial art of the east. Karate and Budo fused principles and technique to form one school. Historically this is a comprehensive close combat martial art such as strikes, throwing and joint techniques. Goju is one of the historical Karate schools of Okinawa.

Shorin School is one of Okinawa’s three main streams of Karate (Goju School, Uechi School, Shorin School…). In 1933, Master Choshin Chibana named Shorin School. In 1948, they organized Okinawa Shorin Ryu Karate-do Association. They took over the Shuri-te stream. There is a Dojo not only in Okinawa but also overseas.
